Motivated by our quest for varied venues that are historically, artistically or culturally rich, we chose yet another unique location to host the second edition of the Feet on Earth Festival.
Bansilal Stepwell, a newly restored heritage site, was an apt choice. A stepwell preserves water in the earth, thus tying in seamlessly with our consecutive motifs from the two years- ‘Apah’ and ‘Dharani’.

Taking our initiative of bringing history, art, culture and ecology all together a little further, in our second year we organised a heritage walk around the Bansilalpet area that has several interesting spots of historical value.

Our featured visual artist for FOE, 2023 was Charanjeet Singh from Baroda, Gujarat who has a special interest in stepwells and has worked on a series of paintings called the ‘Stepwell Series’.

The paintings for this festival were curated by Smt Annapurna Madiga of Living Temples. Little known facts about stepwells in general and those in Telangana were also on display at the venue.
